Downstream bug may be found at:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/447955

1) lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 11.04
Release: 11.04

2) apt-cache policy libreoffice-calc
libreoffice-calc:
  Installed: 1:3.3.2-1ubuntu5
  Candidate: 1:3.3.2-1ubuntu5
  Version table:
 *** 1:3.3.2-1ubuntu5 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty-proposed/main i386
Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     1:3.3.2-1ubuntu4 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main i386 Packages

3) What is expected to happen in LibreOffice Calc via the Terminal:

cd ~/Desktop && wget
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/447955/+attachment/812872/+files/invoice.ods
&& localc -nologo invoice.ods

the file opens and can click around without frequently greyscreening.

4) What happens if one clicks around quickly to different cells instead
is it greyscreens for such long periods of time and frequency as to make
the file uneditable.

What the heck is "greyscreens"? The way Linux shows a (preliminary)
hang?

I can confirm with reporter's sample document "LibreOffice 3.4Beta5 –
WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) German UI [DEV300m103 (Build:5)]" that LibO
stops responding frequently when editing or simply clicking around in
the document, sometimes for few seconds, sometimes for some minutes.

I see this problem in all my more complex Spreadsheets, but much more
less extremely as in the sample document.

Works fine with OOo 3.1.1

Yes. When desktop effect is enabled (i.e. the 3D effect), Linux turns a
hanging app window to gray.

Setting status to NEW since I'm not actively working on it.

Checking this again against 3.5.0 would be great.
