Public bug reported: bsdmainutils uses update-alternatives for its write and from utilities, but uses a symbolic link (hd -> hexdump). It would be better to use update-alternatives to manage this symbolic link.
I'm attaching a patch that would add the appropriate update-alternatives command to debian/postinst. The patch also adds commands to remove usr/bin/hd and rename the hd man page to bsd-hd (the update-alternative command slaves bsd-hd.1.gz -> hd.1.gz if it is selected). ** Affects: bsdmainutils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/935891 Title: bsdmainutils should use update-alternatives for hd symlink To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bsdmainutils/+bug/935891/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
