Hi there, thanks for the link. I read throu and followed the instructions from Roger Hunwicks (roger-tonic-solutions) #8 and also UndiFineD (k.dejong) #12, then i got an error saying the server role didn't match in the smb.conf file, so i took a look and it was set to standalone, so to me it looked right. I then restored my old smb.conf file and got my original error, realm = not specified, i tried adding realm = ACER-UBUNTU (name of my computer) as i have no idea what it should equal, I then tried to install something and now the error i get is
ProvisioningError: guess_names: 'server role=standalone' in domain controller must match chosen server role '/etc/samba/smb.conf'! Please remove the smb.conf file and let provision generate it I had a look in my smb.conf file there is no 'server role' entry? where to from here? cheers -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/832465 Title: upgradeprovision: guess_names: 'realm =' was not specified in supplied /etc/samba/smb.conf.
