Public bug reported:

After turning computer on and before sending it to standby sound is
played normally but after resuming from standby sound is distorted. This
affects both programs that use gstreamer (Banshee) and at least one that
doesn't (Audacious).

Have tried the three suggestions on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/PositionReporting but none is able to fix
the problem.

This problem seems to get worse under high CPU load.

Curiously, if a music is playing and I press reboot, in the time between
clicking 'Reboot' and the actual reboot, sound is played normally,
meaning, the clipping and distortions disappear during these 2-3 secs
that it takes ubuntu to close all processes and restart the computer.
