** Description changed: Using the Orca screen reader with compiz in precise. Orca uses the number pad for navigating the contents on the screen, this is when numlock is turned off. With a recent compiz update, using some of these number pad commands for orca causescompiz to move me to the workspace directly below the workspace I am on. A work-around is to use the bottom two workspaces in the grid, but most blind people don't even know about workspaces. To reproduce: 1. Start Orca, and make sure the keyboard layout is set to desktop in Orca preferences. 2. Make sure numlock is turned off. 3. Go to either workspace 1 or 2. - 4. Preferably in an application window, hold numpad 0, and press numpad 9 to move Orca's flat review to the bottom of the aplication window. + 4. Preferably in an application window, hold numpad 0, and press numpad 9 to move Orca's flat review to the bottom of the aplication window. 5. Then press numpad 7 to move to the previous line of contents in the application. YOu may have to perform steps 4 and 5 more than once to cause the bug. You should notice that your focus moves to the workspace directly below the workspace you were in. - ProblemType: Bug - DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 - Package: compiz 1:0.9.7.0~bzr2995-0ubuntu2 - ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-16.25-generic 3.2.6 - Uname: Linux 3.2.0-16-generic x86_64 - .tmp.unity.support.test.0: - - ApportVersion: 1.91-0ubuntu1 - Architecture: amd64 - CompizPlugins: [core, bailer, detection, composite, opengl, compiztoolbox, decor, move, place, imgpng, resize, snap, regex, session, animation, grid, vpswitch, mousepoll, gnomecompat, wall, expo, ezoom, workarounds, fade, scale, unityshell] - CompositorRunning: compiz - Date: Fri Feb 17 11:21:43 2012 - DistUpgraded: Fresh install - DistroCodename: precise - DistroVariant: ubuntu - EcryptfsInUse: Yes - GraphicsCard: - NVIDIA Corporation GT218 [NVS 3100M] [10de:0a6c] (rev a2) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) - Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:21d7] - InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Alpha amd64 (20120122) - MachineType: LENOVO 4313CTO - PackageArchitecture: all - ProcEnviron: - LANGUAGE=en_AU:en - PATH=(custom, no user) - LANG=en_AU.UTF-8 - SHELL=/bin/bash - ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-16-generic root=/dev/mapper/Acapella--Data-Precise ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 - SourcePackage: compiz - UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) - dmi.bios.date: 02/24/2011 - dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO - dmi.bios.version: 6MET83WW (1.43 ) - dmi.board.name: 4313CTO - dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO - dmi.board.version: Not Available - dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information - dmi.chassis.type: 10 - dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO - dmi.chassis.version: Not Available - dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr6MET83WW(1.43):bd02/24/2011:svnLENOVO:pn4313CTO:pvrThinkPadT510:rvnLENOVO:rn4313CTO:rvrNotAvailable:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: - dmi.product.name: 4313CTO - dmi.product.version: ThinkPad T510 - dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO - version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.7.0~bzr2995-0ubuntu2 - version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs N/A - version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.30-1ubuntu1 - version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 8.0~rc2-0ubuntu5 - version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A - version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 8.0~rc2-0ubuntu5 - version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.11.4-0ubuntu3 - version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.6.99.901+git20120126-0ubuntu2 - version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.14.99~git20111219.aacbd629-0ubuntu2 - version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.17.0-1ubuntu4 - version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:0.0.16+git20111201+b5534a1-1build2 + --------------------------------------- + + Desired solution: + + When Orca is started, the offending shortcuts should be automatically + disabled.
