I can still reproduce this behavior. Just installed 64bit oneiric in my
new sony vaio yb35 (same as the original user, except a little bit
faster, comes with the AMD e-450 instead of the e-350).
A few minutes after installing, I left the computer installing updates
and, when I came back, the backlight seems to be flickering heavily.
This seems to get a little better over time and after a shutdown, but I
definitely don't think it should be ignored.
