this could be related to #691770

and for me the situation has improved, perhaps due to some update (i did
not do a dist upgrade)

i also copy the information from the other issue:

i am not sure if this is still an issue, suspend works in most cases
now.

i am sure that i disabled all indexing (system->preferences->search and
indexing -> remove all directory paths) to make my machine faster, so
perhaps this contributed to solve the problem?
