There a NO files in /var/log/dist-upgrade!

xxx@Precise:/var/log/dist-upgrade$ ls -Al
insgesamt 0

If i open the Update-Manger, the icon appears for forthcoming updates and there
ar 279 updates available.
I had not noticed, when the red icon disappered...

I clicked on 'install', the updates where downloaded (incl. new 'synaptic' and
'update-manager').
The files where installed in an terminal, i switch to this window, looked again
into /var/log/dist-upgrade (Terminal) - and as i switched back, the terminal
window with the installing updates is gone...

Task Manger says: CPU 100 % for minutes (about 90-95% for update-manager, but
changing), so i waited for some minutes
(because it is an virtual machine, i can't say if the load on the HDD is from
installing updates or another machine)
Finally, the update icon appeared again, with 185 updates, so i closed (yes,
this was possible) the process 'update-manager'...
