Ok. According to the dmesg output included in your bug report, you have
a failing hard drive:
[ 211.037056] ata1.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x0
[ 211.037068] ata1.00: BMDMA stat 0x24
[ 211.037079] ata1.00: failed command: READ DMA
[ 211.037100] ata1.00: cmd c8/00:08:10:00:00/00:00:00:00:00/e0 tag 0 dma 4096
in
[ 211.037105] res 51/40:08:10:00:00/00:00:00:00:00/e0 Emask 0x9
(media error)
[ 211.037115] ata1.00: status: { DRDY ERR }
[ 211.037123] ata1.00: error: { UNC }
(and many more errors like it)
This may just be a bad cable, or the drive itself could be failing.
Either way, it's not a bug in sysvinit.
