After upgrade from Lucid (completely clean, just-formatted install from newest iso - 10.04.4) to Precise (of 20120224 - filed bug next day):
No kernel was 'running' because Lucid's kernel (2.6.32-38-generic & its complement recovery) was the only kernel available to select to boot from grub but all the installed packages were now Precise versions -- at least, I assume so. Booting on that kernel just halted at a blank screen with flashing cursor. @Brad: Sorry but no logs of the failed install are now available, as I installed Oneiric and upgraded to Precise from there. I could not repro this bug on the same laptop, by following the same steps (fresh Lucid install, upgrade to Precise). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/941146 Title: Non-pae kernel fails to install on upgrade from Lucid To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/941146/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
