Well, the g-s-d seems get the key events correctly and begin "Launching action for key type xx".
So we can assume all components before that are correct. I would take a look at the media keys plugin and see how it perform the reset process. Meanwhile, @Marc, could you do me a favor to test if any sound applications could adjust the sound volume correctly after a suspend/resume? If it cannot, then the error happens in audio subsystem (alsa driver, pulse audio, etc.), or else in the IPC between media keys plugin and the audio subsystem.
