I reproduced the bug again, this time with another computer connected through ssh as described in
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSystemCrash On one terminal I had a cat /proc/kmsg and on another "tail -f /var/log/syslog". When the first computer crashed, it still responded to "ping" from the second one but was completely freezed at its own keyboard. Looking at the content on the two ssh connections, it seems the problem is that the memory is full. The first computer has 2GB of memory, 0.5GB of swap. When the crash occured, about 1GB was occupied by the X server, firefox, etc.. You'll find attached the full content of the console where cat /prog/msg run. On the other console many lines appeared (more than the console saved). You'll find attached the last several hundred lines or so. ** Attachment added: "The output of cat /proc/kmsg on the second computer" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/943516/+attachment/2795633/+files/proc-msg.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/943516 Title: Linux freeze when compiling To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/943516/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
