I borrowed a DL N300 Wireless N adapter from a friend. Plugged it in,
Ubuntu 11.10 in my Asus UX31-DH72 recognized it and connected to my wifi
router right away. Using that, I was able to update the newly installed
ubuntu. As soon as the update completed and asked me to restart. I
did, and to my surprise, it now sees two wifi connections. I plugged in
my ethernet cable to the USB-Ethernet adapter, and that works too.
Soooo I am happpppy! Thanks you you all the Ubuntu developers. Your
are great.
Now what may be left is for me to find out how to get suspend/resume
working.
Anyway, I highly recommend the Asus UX31-DH72. I installed Ubuntu as
dual boot, and installed Apache 2.2 and MySQL on both system. Now
Windows booted up in a mere 14 seconds, resume in 4 vs the 8 seconds
cold boot with the bare bone Windows 7 that came with the machine. For
Ubuntu, it comes up about 8 seconds, even with Apache 2.2 and MySql
running.
The machine is very light. less than 3 pound. The only thing that is missing
is DVD, but I always make ISO file out of CD/DVD and run it with VirtualClone
anyway, hence no need for CD/DVD tray.
