This also affects me on Ubunu 11.10, 3.0.0-16-generic, with the FTDI FT232 serial-to-usb bridge. stty crtscts < /dev/ttyUSB0; stty -crtscts </dev/ttyUSB0; fixes it until the next reboot. Weirdly enough whenever I have plugged an FTDI FT232 cable into my machine an tried (and failed) to use putty, the cable refuses to function on other ubuntu machines as well, where they worked flawlessly before. Could this be a combination of the FTDI cable + a kernel bug?
