The problem is
addgroup --quiet --system scanner
That line exits with code 1, and the postinstall script has a 'set -e'
which means abort on any error.
If you already have the group 'scanner' (previous colord, or other
scanning software) colord will fail to install or upgrade. Add a '||
true'.
