What you've done here is a create a volume with packages of a later
release than the Ubunt you are running on it. Subsequently, update-
notifier behaves the same way as if you've inserted a 12.04 CD into an
11.10 system. I'm not certain its possible for update-notifier to be
aware of the fact that you just created a new usb key with packages on
it.
