Public bug reported:

i upgraded with aptitude and saw that the kernel installation scripts
failed due to a filled /boot partition. i removed old kernels. some by
hand since purge did not work on a full drive either. then i installed
the latest generic kernel again. since the kernel files grow bigger as
it seems it should have some check or other mechanism to handle such a
situation or it should not install a new kernel at all if the space does
not suffice.

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Incomplete
