Also note that the production release of Ubuntu 11.10 installed and ran successfully on this laptop. However, I re-installed 11.04 because I had problems coping with the Unify interface (and couldn't figure out how to run the GNOME interface. But even more important, the Kompozer program (HTML editor) misbehaved horribly under Ubuntu 11.10.
