It is also present in Ubuntu-11.10.

$ apt-cache show xvidcap
Package: xvidcap
Priority: optional
Section: multiverse/x11
Installed-Size: 2808
Maintainer: Ubuntu Developers <[email protected]>
Original-Maintainer: Christian Marillat <[email protected]>
Architecture: i386
Version: 1.1.7-0.2ubuntu12

It sounds like no one tried to use the program before making it
available to the public: I'm using default display settings and a
default xvidcap conf and it doesn't work...
