I'm not certain that is what went wrong when I reported the bug. I don't think anything had stolen the keyboard focus. There should be a way to prevent that from being possible. It seems to me that the screensaver would already have a grab anyhow...? Instead of Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, you could use Ctrl-Alt-F1, log in, then execute "killall gnome-screensaver".
