Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.20-15-386
Inserting a new, unformatted 2GB SD card results in the following error
messages:
[ 53.196000] Buffer I/O error on device sdc1, logical block 3927040
[ 53.196000] Buffer I/O error on device sdc1, logical block 3927041
[ 53.196000] Buffer I/O error on device sdc1, logical block 3927042
[ 53.196000] Buffer I/O error on device sdc1, logical block 3927043
[ 53.196000] Buffer I/O error on device sdc1, logical block 3927044
[ 53.196000] Buffer I/O error on device sdc1, logical block 3927045
[ 53.196000] Buffer I/O error on device sdc1, logical block 3927046
[ 53.196000] Buffer I/O error on device sdc1, logical block 3927047
Subsequently, the kernel will not allow any access to /dev/sdc1
Read errors may indicate invalid ECC data or a bad partition table and
should not be treated as fatal errors. The kernel should still allow
writes to the device, but it does not.
Workaround: Format the card using a different operating system.
Note: Possibly related to Bug #111361
** Affects: linux-source-2.6.20 (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: Unconfirmed
