Public bug reported:

I upgraded to 12.04 to 11.10 yesterday. After that I was not able to open my 
internal/external hard disk and usb drives.
The 'My computer' icon is not opening up now, which used to display all these 
information.
Now only information visible is the ubuntu parition.
Nor, the drives are automatically mounted.
