Jorge, I think this is the normal behavior of pidgin in Unity. When using the close button, the instance will remain opened. You can confirm this by going to the mail notification button, and you'll see the little arrow showing that pidin is open. To completely close pidgin, go to Buddies menu and choose "Quit" to close it. (We're talking about behavior, not how to use pidgin :) )
