I further observed that the write speed to the external USB drive, for Lucid, is a lot better than the read speed. I'm seeing write speeds around 30MB/s which is ok. However, the read speed continues to be extremely slow. Nautilus was telling me that the file transfer speed was around 5 MB/sec when copying from the external USB drive to an internal SATA drive. I started a capture using the command
cat /sys/kernel/debug/usb/usbmon/1u > /tmp/1u.mon.out before connecting the external drive and then beginning the copy of a 5 GB file from the external USB drive using Nautilus to copy the file to an internal SATA drive. After about 100 MB, I killed the trace with the CTRL-C key and then cancelled the copy. The trace is about 2.6 MB of plain text. How can I get that to you? Surely you don't want me to try to paste it here? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/624510 Title: Copying To USB Is Very Slow To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/624510/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
