When the battery is running out I get warnings and before the battery completely runs out Ubuntu shuts down as expected. What it does not do is dim the screen on a low battery. - Could this be related to bug #70020 in which I can not even use the - brightness keys? - - I am using Edgy. + I am using Fiesty with the latest BIOS update. My brightness controls + work.
