Public bug reported:
I currently have a Kensington Optical Elite mouse and a dell keyboard
that came with the desktop. After a few minutes ranging from 5 to 50
minutes my keyboard and mouse stop responding. The only workaround I've
found is to use either a secondary mouse, wireless, in addition to the
one I already have plugged in by usb. Both are usb mice, and although
the kensington one stops working after only a matter of minutes, the
other optical mouse runs for some time longer until finally giving out.
The keyboard itself will stop responding after some time, lasting longer
than the mouse, so I can partially navigate the system, but once it
gives out, I have to resort to another keyboard, usb too, since the
computer bought has no PS/2 ports in the back, and even then there is no
guarantee as to how long this second keyboard will work. So thus I have
to resort to yet another usb keyboard to continue to use the system.
If there are any fixes to this please tell, but otherwise the only fixes
I have found so far are:
1.)Restart the system and let ubuntu detect and let me use the mice and
keyboards for some more time. (effectively leasing me time each restart).
2.)Resort to secondary keyboards, said above, and continue working. (not
applicable in the current situation because it should be smooth enough working
in feisty)
3.) Resort to previous versions of Ubuntu that I can use that don't have this
software problem since the mouse is lit on the bottom but not responding to
movement.
4.) Resort to windows again. (You don't know how many times it has gone
unstable on me, although the current one stayed relatively stable enough)
My Hardware is AMD64 Athlon X2, with Kensington mouse as stated above,
and dell keyboard. With auxiliary keyboards of Microsoft wireless
keyboard, Logitech keyboard, and Microsoft wireless 2.0.
If any more information is needed please comment on such.
Also, since I am a relatively new user to Linux, just started with
Ubuntu Feisty Fawn, any and all help would be grandly appreciated.
