Linux 3.2.0-18 had been installed in my system, some days before. But the system hangs while booting through it. So I changed the order of kernel using Grub Customizer and taken the old kernel (3.2.0-17) as default.
I have tried the recovery mode of the new kernel. Some of the important messages (I think) showing in recovery mode are given below:- [0.705337] VFS: Cannot open root device "sda3" or unknown-block(0,0) [0.705405] Please append a correct "root=" boot option; here are the available partitions [0.705491] Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown block(0,0) [0.705575] Pid:1, comm:swapper/0 Not tainted 3.2.0-18-generic pae #29-Ubuntu -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/954671 Title: package linux-image-3.2.0-18-generic-pae 3.2.0-18.29 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 17 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/954671/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
