Public bug reported:

Whenever I plug the LinkSys (Broadcom) WPC54G V3 wireless card into the
PCMCIA slot on my old Gateway Solo 600 notebook running Xubuntu 12.04
beta, it accesses the hard drive and then locks up 100%. Likewise if I
try to boot with the card plugged in. It seems OK if I plug in a PCMCIA
SCSI adapter, so it's something to do with the wireless card. I
disconnected it, downloaded "fwcutter" and installed it, then re-booted,
but no improvement. It does not do a power reset or re-boot, like some
PCMCIA problems have in the distant past, but merely quits responding to
any mouse or keyboard action, so the screen is frozen and I have to
power off with the power button. Because it hangs the whole system
including the task manager), the problem must be at a very low level,
and I'm fairly sure it's not generating a bug report back to your
reporting system.

Note that the same combination of hardware WORKED WITH Xubuntu V11.10
last week ...
