Sitsofe, you are correct. Although I cannot decipher exactly that bug 116996 is really about, changing my fstab to use UUIDs fixed the problem. If the underlying issue is indeed fixed by the next kernel release, this bug can be closed. Since my hardware seems to be affected, I will subscribe to both bugs you mentioned and try to help pin down the problem if that is needed.
