Have found cause of problem. It is due to alterations of inclusion IPv6 
support. The last entry in the
output of the dmesg command is: eth0: no IPv6 routers present.
So the lan is not started. A test for IPv4 is forgotten!!
In this both network cards do not work equal. The Gigabitcard knows 
about IPv6, the much older 10/100 network card not.
It also explains why waiting some time for some event, the lan can be 
started automatically.
A terminal command should also be able to do it.
I think this completes my involment as problem determination is completed.

Further this: in the bug report are several updates in my name which are 
completely rubbish.
It did not do this!!! Can this be deleted somehow?
