This happens on my 12.04 beta 1 system which is fully updated as of this
date:

test@PreciseB1-desktop:~$ uname -a
Linux PreciseB1-desktop 3.2.0-18-generic #29-Ubuntu SMP Mon Mar 12 00:21:31 UTC
2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Fully updated but:

The following packages have been kept back:
  empathy empathy-common gir1.2-rb-3.0 gnome-tweak-tool gvfs gvfs-backends
  gvfs-bin gvfs-common gvfs-daemons gvfs-fuse gvfs-libs libidl0
  libpackagekit-glib2-14 libpurple0 librhythmbox-core5 libtotem-plparser17
  linux-generic linux-headers-generic linux-headers-generic-pae
  linux-image-generic nautilus-sendto-empathy rhythmbox rhythmbox-data
  rhythmbox-plugin-cdrecorder rhythmbox-plugins rhythmbox-ubuntuone
  ubuntu-desktop udisks
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 28 not upgraded.

Happens on every boot. I'm using Unity 3D, not sure why I'm seeing this crash.
The initial report seems to be against Plymouth.
