Hi Till, To use the Synaptic Package Manager to install drivers for the Brother HL-5150D printer, the package "brother-lpr-drivers-laser1" must be installed, because it is the only package that supports drivers for the HL-5150D. BUT Synaptic dependencies requires the installation of 2 additional packages: brother-cups-wrapper-laser1 & brother-lpr-drivers-common. When you install the printer the Cups driver is chosen, there is no option to install the lpr driver. The only way to install lpr would be to not install Cups, but that is not possible, given the Synaptic dependencies.
So what i did is to uninstall "brother-lpr-drivers-laser1" (which also uninstalled the 2 additional packages). This allowed printer driver installation to use the Foomatic printer driver database. From this i am using driver "Brother HL-5150D Foomatic/Postscript" driver. It is slow, but works for 2 sided copying! So ... finally i can use my printer for 2 sided copying. There are several drivers on the Foomatic database, and i am not sure the one i choose is the best.
