** Summary changed:
- Feisty i386 Alternate Installation 85% Stall and Failure
+ Feisty i386 Alternate Installation 85% Stall and ???
** Description changed:
This is a clean installation onto a HP NX9420.
I downloaded Ubuntu 7.04 (ubuntu-7.04-alternate-i386.iso). I
successfully verified the md5 sum of the .iso file and burned it on a
CD.
Then I try to boot from it. Boot is successful, and I see boot menu. I
choose <<Install a command-line System>> at the boot menu, and all goes
well until 85% - <installed core-manager-update>.
The system freezes for about two hours.
The it suddenly skips towards 100% and into the next empty bar,
something about the GRUB manager flashes past, and the <<[!!] Finish the
installation>> notice pops up.
I remove the disc and reboot the system.
- Everything buzzes along until:
+ *edit*
- Ubuntu 7.04 ubuntu tty1
-
- ubuntu login: * Running local boot scripts (etc/rc.local)
[ OK ]
-
-
- The blinking curosr stops on the right edge of the screen, on the next line
down from [OK] and one digit to the right of the [OK]'s ]
+ The installation works. I can log into my account. o_O
