I tried linux-3.0.0-16.29 kernel just as you asked and didn't manage to
reproduce the bug. But the point is that I cannot figure out the
necessary steps to reproduce it on 3.2.0-19 either. It just happened
some times when I played test sound in skype and via aplay (first
through pluse then through hw devices) simultaneously. So I cannot be
sure it is a regression.

The reason I think it has something to do with skype is because it
appeared in dmesg in a backtrace just below "NULL pointer dereference"
message.

Right now I managed to get sound in skype by installing
libasound2-plugins:i386 that ships alsa plugin for pulseaudio and the
problem seems to be gone. But anyway I don't think it is ok that the
absence of user-level library causes null pointer issues in kernel.
