I tried linux-3.0.0-16.29 kernel just as you asked and didn't manage to reproduce the bug. But the point is that I cannot figure out the necessary steps to reproduce it on 3.2.0-19 either. It just happened some times when I played test sound in skype and via aplay (first through pluse then through hw devices) simultaneously. So I cannot be sure it is a regression.
The reason I think it has something to do with skype is because it appeared in dmesg in a backtrace just below "NULL pointer dereference" message. Right now I managed to get sound in skype by installing libasound2-plugins:i386 that ships alsa plugin for pulseaudio and the problem seems to be gone. But anyway I don't think it is ok that the absence of user-level library causes null pointer issues in kernel. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/958408 Title: skype causing NULL pointer dereference at 0000000000000028 in kernel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/958408/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
