The problem with that idea is that there may be a) multiple drives by the same name in nautilus b) drives which do not show up in nautilus at all
a) is often the case when you use multiple drives of the same type and do not rename them, then every disk will be shown as e.g. "SanDisk" or "USB Disk". b) is rare, but possible if the drive was e.g. encrypted.
