Conclusions so far:
I can exclude the reason that the device would be damaged as it works under 
full speed under windows on the same machine and under Ubuntu 11.10 on a 
different machine.

On the other hand
connects a second HD correctly on the M6600:

I would appreciate any help here as I would like to start using the new
