I'm not quite convinced this is a duplicate of those bugs. I have the same problem on all of my machines with:
---# lspci |grep VGA 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) Sandy bridge GPUs on the other hand are smooth as butter: ---# lspci |grep VGA 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09) while the Intel cards in the middle are a little choppy: ---# lspci -v |grep VGA 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 12) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Since this bug gets better with increasing graphics power, there is either a bug with the intel driver and lightdm/unity-greeter or the performance of unity-greeter needs optimizations for this case. Marking the bug as confirmed. If you need any traces/logs for these graphics cards, I'm glad to be of assistance. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/945450 Title: Responsiveness: LightDM in ubuntu 12.04 very slow To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-greeter/+bug/945450/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
