I suppose you can close the bug: I created another user on my system. In that account, firefox didn't crash. Back in my regular account, I deleted ~/.mozilla/firefox. Firefox crashed again. I deleted the whole ~/.mozilla directory. That did the trick: firefox now works without crashes.
Some file in that directory was corrupt, I guess.
