Thanks Christoper, I continue to get these crashes most days, sometimes
two or three times a day, and nearly all of these types

Unable to handle kernel paging request at ...
Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at ...

My current kernel (from apt-cache showpkg linux ) is

3.0.0.17.20 (/var/lib/apt/lists/archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_oneiric-
proposed_main_binary-i386_Packages)

While preparing this reply (having gone to the terminal menu to select
Copy), I had my latest crash, details were

Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at (null)
EIP is at prio_tree_replace+0x19/0x60

I will get the latest Precise release onto a USB stick and give it a
try, and I will upgrade pretty soon after its release in a months time
and report back.

I will look into getting the latest upstream kernel, but that may be
beyond my technical capabilities.
