Public bug reported: Using Ubuntu 12.04 (64bit) with all updates. I use only one partition (/dev/sda4 mounted on /).
On *every* reboot or after shutdown and booting again, I get this error message: /dev/sda4 not cleanly unmounted, check forced My fstab: # /etc/fstab: static file system information. # # Use 'blkid' to print the universally unique identifier for a # device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices # that works even if disks are added and removed. I haven't found anything else, so I guess this problem doesn't occur on ext3/ext4.
