I logged in to an "Ubuntu" session and only the wallpaper and mouse
pointer were visible. I pressed Ctrl+Alt+Space to open GNOME Terminal,
but nothing appeared. When I moved the pointer across the screen, it
reacted as if the terminal window with resize borders was open but
invisible.
