sure, more detailed information: lockup/freeze means, i cant do anthing except acpi-off (pressing on/off for >6seconds) or magic-sysrq-reboot (alt-print-b) to leave this system state. also, ctrl-alt-f<x> or ctrl-alt-backspace to leave X doesnt work anymore.
im using ecryptfs in a bit modified way than the standard home dir encryption, which means: it is mounted the following way: (cat /proc/mounts) /home/profile_dir/<user>/.Private /mnt/temp ecryptfs rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime,ecryptfs_fnek_sig=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,ecryptfs_sig=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,ecryptfs_cipher=aes,ecryptfs_key_bytes=16,ecryptfs_unlink_sigs 0 0 when i start firefox: firefox -no-remote -profile /mnt/temp/.mozilla/firefox/<profiledir> and leaving this browser untouched for while >=10mins, the system will hang the way described above. btw performance issues because of encryption are not the problem it is just about the lockup/freeze state i crosschecked with : 1) cryptsetup devicemapper (also kernel level encryption) based profile dir - same symptom of lockup/freeze 2) the userspace encryption tool encfs and the problem doesnt exist anymore i really wonder why other people which are using normal ubuntu home dir encryption doesnt habe resp. report similar problems. thanks in advance for all kinds of infos and pointers to resolv this issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/963277 Title: the whole system locksup/freezes after a while when running apps like firefox (profilefolder) on ecryptfs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ecryptfs-utils/+bug/963277/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
