I've not checked recently to see if this is still even valid and it may be just a few days before I get a chance to look. Regardless it should be considered very low priority, perhaps almost more of a wish-list item. I doubt most people would even notice it, and as gconf becomes more and more deprecated I'm sure we'll see more such tiny things.
