Qtparted does still hangs in 0.4.5-2ubuntu12 on kubuntu feisty (but so far I haven't found a way to reproduce a crash anymore). Procedure to hang the program is still the same:
- Start qtparted with a usb disk attached, wait forl the program to load - Remove/detach usb disk from the system - Select the entry for the removed disk in the list. A progress dialog appears, and above that an error dialog saying "Critical error during ped_disk_new" (or so). - Click OK on the error dialog, select another drive; then go back to the removed one again; repeat until the program hangs (usually takes two tries but may take more). When it hangs the program is showing a dialog giving "Progress" information on "Current operation: scanning all disk partitions." At this point qtparted has become unresponsive and uses 100% of cpu until killed. command line output: # qtparted Error: Error opening /dev/sde: No such file or directory A bug has been detected in GNU Parted.
