Public bug reported: Hi,
I really don't know where to file this, but I have followed the guidelines as per the instructions on: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingACPI I have been able to boot Ubuntu 12.04 Beta fine for the past 2 months without having to use the acpi=off flag, but last night I installed around 104 updates (and I honestly don't know what), rebooted and had to go back to using this flag. I've had to do this before before the 3.0 Kernel or thereabouts, and it's the first time that I've seen this for this motherboard since. I have tried all the various other flags (like acpi=ht even though my CPU is not hyperthreaded, and acpi=noirq and so on) and none of these have made a difference, only acpi=off does anything. The problem is that it's had a knock-on effect since this happening, if I run any application under WINE, the audio is about twice the speed and plays very distorted. I would have a few ideas on why both are related, but I could be very wrong and obviously I could be reporting two separate problems, but due to me having a fair understanding of the APIC, I could see why this could be the same problem if WINE uses a specific system for the audio subsystem which has been broken when I turn off acpi and apic.
