** Attachment added: "cat /var/log/kern.log | grep -A 10 -B 5 Uhh" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/665391/+attachment/2976306/+files/kern.log ** Description changed: Since updating to maverick I've been experiencing random crashes usually after few hours or so running. It starts with screen blinking black for a moment. after that there is a long period of high CPU usage with frozen screen image, sometimes with cursor still moving, sometimes not. If I wait long enough screen blanks and num lock and caps lock light start blinking, indicating a panic. the panic itself is not logged but each crash so far has been preceded by an unexpected NMI. Using the kernel left over from Lucid prevents the crash. I do use the nvidia binary driver. cat /var/log/kern.log | grep -A 10 -B 5 Uhh - Oct 18 08:58:00 angelica kernel: [33545.093882] input: USB 2.0 Camera as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1a.7/usb1/1-2/1-2:1.0/input/input14 - Oct 18 20:05:29 angelica kernel: [73593.985167] usb 1-2: USB disconnect, address 14 - Oct 18 20:05:44 angelica kernel: [73609.320082] usb 1-2: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 15 - Oct 18 20:05:45 angelica kernel: [73609.504624] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device USB 2.0 Camera (04f2:b018) - Oct 18 20:05:45 angelica kernel: [73609.507445] input: USB 2.0 Camera as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1a.7/usb1/1-2/1-2:1.0/input/input15 - Oct 18 20:05:50 angelica kernel: [73614.880286] Uhhuh.
