I've experienced many random hangs of the system and tried to fix many
things sine I installed Ubuntu on my new 12-threads, 6-cores machine...

  I updated the bios
  I tried different video drivers
  I tried different kernels

Seems (not 100% sure) that using acpi=off solves the problem, but I end
up with only 6 threads, which is not desired!

Seems that with my current kernel it doesn't freeze anymore (not 100%
  sure yet)...

FInally, the ACPI errors seen in my attached kern.log are alway present
with all the kernels I tried!

Hopefully my info will help solve this issue.
