Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-driver-savage

I have a laptop with a S3 video card, since an update of dapper (i don't
know exactly the version) the system hard freeze at X's startup.

Using the original Ubuntu 6.06 CD (the one 2006-May-20 that I have) I
don't have problems with the acceleration, but with newer livecds (the
current Xubuntu 6.06 for example) the computer freeze exactly in the
same way. The xorg.conf of the systems are identical and I try all the
workarounds from similar (buy not exactly the same) bugs that I found
here. I try to follow the DebuggingSystemCrash described here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSystemCrash, but when the X
starts the computer crash badly, and the ALT+SysReq thing don't work.

The only way to run the system was turning off the acceleration:
      Option "NoAccel" "True"
Or using the vesa driver, but obviously with performance penalties.

I'll attach the configuration and logs from the old live-cd and the actual
system.
Any help will be welcome.
