I should have mentioned in the bug report this is during a gnome session.
Unity should have stayed in the Ubuntu Netbook Remix where it belongs, but
that is neither here nor there. Install media was 10.04 LTS, I run the LTS
on this machine because it is older. That is what I alluded to. Gnome ran
fine on 10.04 with compiz enabled and effects set to extra. I may have
booted unity once for testing. This is a regression. If the bug is nor
resolved I will have to go back to 10.04 to get compiz effects on gnome and
consider going upstream. The screen shot shows the issue clearly. You can
see some artifacts above the bottom bar. Below the top bar the problem is
worse.
