I have downloaded from kernel PPAs what I believe to be the latest
kernel (along with its headers of course) :
- linux-
image-3.4.0-030400rc1-generic_3.4.0-030400rc1.201203312035_i386.deb
With this kernel and headers, the nVidia DKMS drivers won't compile,
complaining about a missing asm/system.h
Having an nVidia board and using nVidia drivers, this was a "fatal
error" to me.
I then tried and installed :
- linux-image-3.3.0-030300-generic_3.3.0-030300.201203182135_i386.deb
On this one, the nVidia drivers compile, but I see a kernel Ooops very
shortly displayed during boot, and my screen goes "black with backlight"
at the time when X is supposed to start. Then nothing.
I did my best to test the upstream kernels, unfortunately, they don't
work at all on this machine.
** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
Status: Incomplete => Confirmed
